Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to attempt an out-of-court resolution to their heated $350 million legal dispute regarding their French vineyard.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly reached an agreement to attempt to settle their acrimonious $350 million legal battle over their French vineyard outside of the courtroom.
The former celebrity couple, who co-owned the vineyard, have decided to pursue mediation as an alternative method of resolving their dispute. Jolie has expressed her willingness to participate in a settlement conference. In an effort to protect the successful wine business associated with the vineyard, Pitt has appointed a provisional administrator to assess its operations and facilitate negotiations between himself and Nouvel, the investment company that Jolie sold her share to.
The appointment was made to ensure the growth and stability of Chateau Miraval, its employees, partners, and subsidiaries. Pitt and Jolie acquired the 1300-acre estate in 2008 and started a wine-making venture with the Perrin family in 2013. The legal battle ensued after Jolie sold her interest in the vineyard to Russian oligarch Shefler, prompting Pitt to take legal action to reverse the sale. Nouvel’s lawyers have accused Pitt of misusing the wine business for personal gain and are seeking $350 million in damages.
