Secondary School Students Attack Their Teacher in Ogun for Preventing Cheating (Watch Video)
A group of ten senior secondary school students in Ogun State became unruly and attacked their teacher, Kolawole Shonuga, after he caught one of them, Ashimi Adebanjo, cheating during a test. Shonuga confiscated the student’s paper, which angered the others. After school hours, they ambushed and beat up the teacher at the school’s gate. Police from the Remo Division intervened and arrested ten of the students. The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Omotola Odutola. The suspects have already been charged with assault in court. The State Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Felix Agbesanwa, emphasized the need for students to face legal consequences for attacking teachers.
The state government also condemned the act and stressed its commitment to maintaining discipline in schools, with measures in place to hold learners and parents accountable for any misconduct. Similar incidents in the past led to the introduction of compulsory undertaking forms signed by students and parents to address hooliganism.
