Will Gigi Hadid go to jail after her detention in the Cayman Islands?
According to a report by TMZ, Gigi Hadid faced a detainment and accusation of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia upon her arrival in the Cayman Islands.
The renowned 28-year-old supermodel landed at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10 via a private plane, accompanied by her friend Leah McCarthy. During the customs inspection of her luggage, Customs & Border Control officers conducted a manual search and scan, leading to the discovery of “a small amount of weed and smoking utensils.”
While Gigi Hadid and Leah were initially detained on suspicion of importing marijuana and smoking accessories, it was later determined that the marijuana was intended solely for personal use. Gigi’s representative confirmed to E! News that she was traveling with marijuana legally purchased in NYC, accompanied by a medical license. Additionally, medical use of marijuana has been legalized in Grand Cayman since 2017. Gigi’s record remains untarnished, and she continued to enjoy her time on the island.
Regarding the question of whether Gigi Hadid could face jail time, she was initially sent to the Prisoner Detention Centre before being granted bail. On July 12, Gigi and her friend appeared in court, pleaded guilty, and were each fined $1,000. With the case now legally resolved, Gigi Hadid does not face any jail time.
During her vacation, Gigi has been sharing pictures on social media, including ones where she proudly displays a large dragon tattoo on her leg. She has posted images of herself wearing a patterned string bikini, showcasing the dragon tattoo that covers a significant portion of her upper right thigh and hip. Gigi tweeted two pictures of herself enjoying her vacation, captioning them “Mornin'” along with a small dragon emoji.
