China’s foreign minister disappears amid allegations that she had an affair with a well-known TV host
Speculation is arising as China’s foreign affairs minister has seemingly vanished from public sight, fueling rumors of a potential affair with a well-known television presenter.
Qin Gang, known for his assertive approach as one of China’s formidable diplomats, reportedly fell out of favor with the country’s leadership after assuming his role in December. Having risen through the ranks of the Communist Party and serving as ambassador to the UK and US, Qin gained recognition for his confrontational style during meetings with Western officials.
According to Mail Online, Qin has been absent from public appearances for several weeks. His last known engagement was a meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart on June 25. Simultaneously, popular television presenter Fu Xiaotian, who frequently interviews high-ranking officials, has also been missing from the public eye after an interview featuring both Qin and Fu surfaced.
Taiwan and Hong Kong press have been abuzz with rumors suggesting a potential affair between Qin and Fu. However, when Qin failed to attend a scheduled meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Jakarta, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited “health reasons” as the cause.
In Qin’s absence, Wang Yi, his predecessor and current foreign affairs advisor to Xi Jinping, stepped in and even held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Meanwhile, Fu Xiaotian, along with her infant son, has remained unseen, further fueling speculations about their alleged involvement.
