What is DeAndre Hopkins hotel room story at the NFL Combine 2013 (View)
During the 2013 NFL Combine, Pro-Bowler DeAndre Hopkins faced accusations of causing damage to his hotel room.
While the NFL Combine may seem like a relatively ordinary event to fans of DeAndre Hopkins, it holds significant importance for prospects aiming to make their mark in the league. One particular incident that garnered attention in 2013 was the alleged state of disarray in DeAndre Hopkins’ hotel room, which he shared with Mark Harrison.
Reports indicated that the room was found in a filthy condition, with urine and feces present throughout. Witnesses also claimed that toothpaste was smeared on the mirror, and no effort was made to clean up the mess.
According to Yahoo! Sports via ESPN, Mark Harrison was cleared of any involvement in the incident. Additionally, DeAndre Hopkins vehemently denied being responsible for the room’s destruction, as reported by FOXSports.com. He reportedly had left the evening prior to the incident and directed investigators to review the security footage.
Despite this controversy, DeAndre Hopkins was selected as the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He made an impact in his rookie season, amassing over 800 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
In 2014, Hopkins achieved his first 1,000-yard season, surpassing the milestone by more than 20%, and increased his touchdown count. He continued to excel in 2015, recording over 1,500 yards, 11 touchdowns, and a career-high 111 receptions. Although he saw a slight dip in production in 2016, he bounced back in 2017.
From 2017 to 2019, Hopkins consistently tallied at least 1,150 and 1,300 receiving yards per season, respectively. After spending his final season with the Houston Texans in 2019, he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals by then-coach Bill O’Brien.
Between 2021 and 2022, in a span of 19 games, DeAndre Hopkins amassed approximately 1,200 receiving yards and scored 11 touchdowns.
