Catholic priest passes away after spending the night at a hotel with a woman.
Authorities in Nairobi have initiated an inquiry into the untimely demise of a Catholic Priest who tragically passed away shortly after registering at a lodging establishment with his girlfriend.
The deceased individual has been identified as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, a 43-year-old priest hailing from St. Peters Ruai. On Friday, July 8, 2023, he and his 32-year-old female companion checked into the Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga.
According to a police report, the priest suddenly experienced feelings of dizziness, prompting his partner to seek assistance from the hotel management. They swiftly transported him to Kenol Hospital in Murang’a using their own vehicle, but regrettably, he was declared deceased upon arrival at the medical facility.
Given the circumstances surrounding his unexpected passing, suspicions have arisen, prompting the authorities to launch an investigation into the matter.
A section of the police report stated:
“A 43-year-old man named Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, a Catholic priest affiliated with the Archdiocese of Nairobi and a farmer in the Mangu area, checked into the aforementioned hotel in the company of his girlfriend, who also happens to be his colleague at their workplace in Ruai.
“Subsequently, this morning (Saturday) around 8:00 am, the priest’s girlfriend alerted the hotel management that he was experiencing dizziness and losing consciousness, necessitating their rush to the hospital. They expedited his transfer to Kenol Hospital, where his unfortunate demise was pronounced upon arrival.”
