UEFA changes the Conference League name by dropping “Europa”
UEFA, the governing body of European football, has announced a name change for its third-tier competition. Starting from the 2024-25 season, the tournament will be known as the “Conference League” instead of the “Europa Conference League.”
In a statement released on Wednesday night, June 28, UEFA also revealed the host cities for the upcoming Champions League finals. Athens will host the 2024 final, while Wroclaw will be the venue for the 2025 final. Additionally, Lisbon has been selected to host the 2025 Women’s Champions League final at Sporting’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Furthermore, UEFA officials will be closely observing the new Agia Sofia Stadium, which is the home of AEK Athens, until November. After assessing the venue, UEFA will confirm the date for the 2024 final to be held there.
